Thanks to Whit Ford who came to the MHS show and gave me this old tome of folksongs from Québec. Lo and behold, if it didn't contain a song I've been chasing recently, "La Sourde Muette" which has many many odd versions that I'm starting to put together for Volume Two. For those who read music, look at the flattened third on the second stanza. Quelle weirdesse! This version also offers a new angle on the strange end of the story. I included a copy of Mémère's lyric to compare.
